Have a Great Journey, Indah

Well, you didn’t make it.

January 30th, 2012 at 9.00 AM, it took the life right out of me us. Shocked, terrified, not wanting to believe. Just starring blankly at my goddamn phone for seconds, not able to do anything while tons of memories flashed in my head.

Memories of you, lending your notes to me. You, putting on your hijab on me and we laughed a lot like crazy after seeing my reflection in your hijab. You, reading the chalkboard for me when I didn’t bring my glasses. You, walking me to canteen even you yourself didn’t look for snacks.

Memories when we were testing our failed cardboard boat in ITB’s pool in the middle of rain. You, cutting your finger and it bled heavily. Memories when we were going for a steel hunting for our physic project, things when we were enjoying our brownies ice cream.

And I promised to take you to the best durian ice cream in Bandung, but we never make it. I could have called you, but I didn’t.

Have you already been tired of fighting, Indah? What were you thinking when the lights came down?

“Past the planets and the stars, leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain, and fly again.

Fly, fly precious one, your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness, far too beautiful for this.

Fly, fly do not fear, don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free, be on your way.”

Fly, Celine Dion.

Dear Indah, I know now you’ve found a better place to fall asleep. In the arms of angel, and may you find some comfort there.

So I guess, I’ll see you later, Indah. See you on another side.
